At last my first post of 2012 and I start this year with a quick and eye-catching bracelet made with a selection of gorgeous beads made in Italy, acrylic beads with foil and elastic. The hues of green are lovely, vibrant and it's one of my favourites too.

I've been so busy with my new seasonal job, volunteering for the British Heart Foundation and running that I almost didn't get the chance to post the Christmas cards I made for 2011.I I can't believe Christmas is almost a week away!
For this card I tried to recycle a few bits and bobs from other cards and adding new things too. I sew the beads and sequins on this tree and used stickles and holographic papers too. Background made from paper and card scraps.

A gorgeous set I made a long while ago using AB crystals, beading wire, oval links and silver-plated chain, crimp beads, jewellery findings and pliers. I weaved the crystals in right-angle weave to create small cubes and used the crimp beads to hold them in place. The earrings have a ladder weave and end in a big loop.

Un precioso set de bisutería hecho con cristales con terminado Aurora Borealis, alambre para collares, cadena plateada con eslabones ovalados, terminaciones plateadas y tenazas para joyería. Entrelazé los cristales usando tejido en ángulo recto para crear pequeños cubos y use chafas para asegurarlos en su lugar. Los aretes tienen un tejido escalera y terminar en un lazo grande.

I made the roses from long strips of handmade paper and ordinary paper that I glue together to get the same colour on both sides. I punched the leaves and inked them to add more texture and detail. I used a PM card blank, free papers, sentiment, stamp, gems and ribbon.

This set is another one I made long ago but forgot to post as well - luckily I backed up my pictures! yay!
I used gold beading wire, glass and metallic-finish beads, and gun metal chain for the necklace. First I threaded the beads onto the beading wire and then crocheted. Next I attached it to the chain to create more volume and dimension. I finished it off with a toggle clasp.
I made the ring using 0.8mm wire, the same beads and a round object instead of a mandrel (like glue stick) to create the shape.

Este set de bisuteria es otro que hice hace tiempo pero que me olvide de subir aqui - felizmente que guardé las fotos en un CD - yupui!
Para el collar usé cola de tigre/ alambre fino para collares dorado recubierto por plastico, cuentas de vidrio y metálicas, y cadena negra. Primero ensarté la cuentas en el alambre y luego hice cadena con crochet. El siguiente paso fue adherirlas a la cadena para darle mas volumen y dimensión. Lo terminé con un broche.
Hice el anillo con alambre de 0.8mm, las mismas cuentas y un objeto circular/redondo en vez de un medidor de anillos (como una goma en barra) para crear la forma.

I made this card for my husband's birthday last month. I stamped the image using brown Stazon and coloured it using watercolours pencils. I also used a glitter pen to highlight the fish fins. I matted and layered the image with black and green cardstock and then embossed it using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and raised it using foam pads to create more dimension. I die-cut the letters using the Olivia Alphabet set from CB and used free papers for the background; the greeting was also part of a different set of free papers.

Hice esta tarjeta para el cumpleaños de mi esposo el mes pasado. Estampé la imagen usando un tampón de Stazon y lo coloreé con lápices acuarelas. Tambien usé un lapicero con escarcha para resaltar las aletas del pez. Le puse capas a la imagen usando cartulina negra y verde y luego use un troquel/ folder de embossing de Cuttlebug para crear el repujado y lo levanté con foamis para darle mas dimensión. Corté las letras usando el alfabeto Olivia de Cuttlebug y use papeles que vinieron gratis con una revista para crear el fondo; el saludito tambien fue parte de otro set de papeles que vinieron gratis.

Necklace & Bracelet

A couple of jewellery samples I demonstrated at the past April Kings Hall show for Northern Ireland Beaders Guild stand. I've been a member of this guild from the very beginning in 2008 and now I'm part of the committee.
These pieces are quick and fun to make. I used glass beads, 0.8mm gold and silver plated wire, pearls, gold and silver plated chain and links, jump rings, clasps and jewellery pliers.

I had a go at little bit of bead embroidery and sewing for this needle case. I used assorted seed beads in gold and red, metallic thread and sequins. I also used cardboard (from a cereal box) for the the front and back to make the covers sturdy and sew a fancy beady edge to finish it off.

Probé un poquito de bordado con mostacillas y costura para este alfiletero. Usé mostcillas variadas en color dorado y rojo, hilos metalicos y lentejuelas. Tambien usé cartón (de una caja de cereal) para el frente y posterior de la cubiertas para hacerlas mas rigidas y cosí un borde lujoso con las mostacillas para terminarlo.

Bright and bold - I made the centre piece of this necklace as chunky as possible and used gold metal and wooden beads. The beads are big but the necklace it's actually quite light. I also used rat tail cord/satin cord in red and black thong. I used the Macramé Half Hitch knot and weave the cords in a way that the red and black would be seen more in certain places. I finished it off with some of my handmade connectors(heart shape) red glass beads and a magnetic clasp.

Another pair of dangling earrings made with donut crystals (which a friend of mine kindly gave me) and crystals in blue and turquoise with copper findings. Each crystal is wire-wrapped at the top to add more detail and texture to earrings. The wrapped wire looks almost like a fancy bead cap.

I had this idea for a while and finally was able to put together a necklace that features some of my hand-embellished beads. I used wooden as the base for most of them except the felt beads. This necklace features crochet, wire, felt and beaded beads. I also used foiled,acrylic and Pandora-style beads. It's chunky but light due to the mixture of materials used. I finished it off with wire coils and a toggle clasp with 3 loops so it's adjustable too.

I've finished embellishing this notebooks & memo pads yesterday. When I bought them; they were plain and a little flimsy so I glued some thick card stock to them before embellishing the covers and backs. Most of the things I used like die-cuts and patterned papers came from left overs from previous projects or recycled packaging, cards and wallpaper. I even used some pages from a fancy clothes and accessories catalogue. I also used stickers and stickles to highlight some of the flowers. Now they're ready to go on each of my handbags.

He terminado de decorar estos cuadernitos y libretas ayer. Cuando los compré eran sencillos y endebles asi que les pegé un cartón grueso as la cubiertas antes de adornarlos. La mayoria de cosas que usé para adornarlos como los papeles y figuras precortadas provinieron de sobrantes de proyectos anteriores, o empaque, tarjetas y papel mural reciclado. Inclusive usé unas páginas de un catalogo lujoso de ropa y accesorios. También usé escarcha engomada para resaltar las flores. Ahora están listos para ponerlos en mis bolsos.

I made these earrings using glass faceted beads, silver plated head pins, jump rings and earring hooks. Using jewellery pliers; I wire wrapped each dangling bead to make them more secure, add more texture and a feature to each beaded head pin. This is one of my favourite colour combination.

Hice estos aretes con cuentas de vidrio con facetas, agujas plateadas, anillas y ganchos para aretes. Usando la tenazas/alicates para bisutería ; enrollé el alambre en cada aguja con cuenta para hacerlos más seguros, darles mas textura y darles una caracteristica particular a cada cuenta colgante. Esta es una de mis favoritas combinaciónes de colores.

I made the wire flower pendant using 0.8mm silver plated wire, round-nosed pliers, chain-nosed pliers, cutters, glass and metal beads. For the beaded rope I used a selection of seed beads in 3 different colours and finished off with a lobster clasp and chain extension to make it adjustable.

My first go at making a tri-fold card and I have to say I'm quite pleased. I also hand-stitched the butterfly using a pricking brass template and embroidery thread. I used cream card stock which I distress using walnut ink, free papers, vellum, flower die -cuts, nestabilities, pearlescent card, stamped sentiment, ribbon and brads.

I love how wire-wrapped dangling headpins look on earrings. The wire-wrapping adds plenty of texture, detail and make the loops very secure. I made this earrings using headpins, a mixture of glass beads and small pearls and earring hooks.

My Craft Room Update

It's been ages since I post pictures of my craft space and since I had it all nice and tidy I took these pictures. I made some little changes and add a nice jewellery display to hang my necklaces; I also added more mini storage drawers and place my jewellery making supplies closer to hand along with some cardmaking and scrapbooking ones I use more often.

No puedo creer que haya pasado tanto tiempo desde que puse fotos de mi area/cuarto de manulidades y ya que lo tenia bien ordenadito tome estas fotos. Hice unos pequeños cambios y agregé un manique de alambre para colgar mis collares; tambien puse mas cajoncitos de plastico y coloque mis herramientas y piezas de joyeria más al alcance de mi mano junto con algunas cositas de cardmaking y scrapbooking que uso con más frecuencia.

I made this card a little while ago and sent it to my Dad but I lost most of the pictures I took. Fortunately I've saved 3 on an e-mail and here they are. I decided to have a go a this new type of card. It took me a little time to work out the mechanism properly but it was fun to make and I was pleased with the results. I used free papers, a card template, letter stencils, Sakura gel pen, a strip of a plastic bag, star gems and a black pen.

White handmade paper roses are always my choice for sympathy cards. I made them using fine strips of textured white paper and PVA glue. I punched the leaves and folded them to create more detail and texture. I also used mirror card, handmade papers and purple cardstock.

I made this special album for my Dad's birthday. I wanted it to make it small so it could be post easily so I used and ordinary 4x6 photo album and made the pages to look like a little scrapbook layouts using smaller picture, journalling and embellishments. It was far less time consuming than making a whole 12x12 album too. My Dad loved it.

I used 2 pearl sizes, half gold bugles, 0.2 mm gold plated wire, crochet hook, flower pendant, extension chain and jewellery pliers to make this necklace. The base was crocheted and then embellished with the gold bugles.

I made these roses using long strips of white paper and punch the leaves. I folded the leaves to create the veins and sanded them with an emery boards. I also used mirror and purple cardstock for matting and layering and handwrote the greeting.

All the large beads were handmade by me. I used wooden beads as base and beaded the surface of some of them with assorted seed bead and create the darker one using Macramé & Chinese Knotting. This necklace also has crackle glass and acrylic beads to make it lighter.

Todas las cuentas grandes las hice yo. Use cuentas de madera como base y cosí mostacillas en la superficie de algunas de ellas con una variada selección y creé las mas oscuras usando nudos de Macramé y Chinos.Este collar tambien tiene cuentas de vidrio crujido y acrílicas para hacerlo mas liviano.

I made the flowers using handmade/mulberry papers and also made a frilled flower to create the centre. I added punched leaves, quilled swirls, a white flourish rub-on, scrapbooking papers, embossed cream card, brown card, acetate, brads and ribbon.

My second knitted bracelet/cuff...hurray! This bracelet is really tactile; has loads of texture and will cheer up any outfit. I made it using a selection of glass and acrylic beads, small purple pearls and 0.2mm purple wire which I double-up to create a stronger knitted base.

Mi segunda pulsera/brazalete tejida a palillo...bravo! Este brazalete es bien táctil; tiene un montón de textura y alegria a cualquier atuendo. Lo hice usando una selección de cuentas de vidrio y acrílicas, perlitas moradas y alambre de 0.2mm que lo use de a dos para crear una base mas fuerte tejida.

I also have to share with you my jewellery magazine publication of 2011. I had my first ever publication in 2009 for Creativity and did a few more projects for the magazine and website. This time around is for the UK magazine Creative Beads and Jewellery that is celebration its first year of publication. My jewellery is featuring in the current issue 13 and I'm really honored to be part of this anniversary publication. You can see part on my necklace on the cover - mine it's the 2nd one with the big flowers although it looks like 1 necklace; there are actually 2. I'm over the moon with this publication!

Mi joyeria fue publicada por primera vez en el 2009 en la revista Creativity e hice algunos proyectos mas para la revista y pagina web . En esta oportuniad es para la revista Inglesa Creative Beads & Jewellery (Cuentas Creativas y Joyería) que cumple 1 año de publicacion. Mi bisutería esta presentada en la edición actual número 13 y es un gran honor ser parte de esta edicion de aniversario. Pueden ver parte de mi collar en la portada - el mío es el 2do con las flores grandes aunque se ve como un solo collar en realidad hay 2. Estoy superfeliz con esta publicación.

The last of the ATCs

I made these a little while ago and finally get round to post them. As usual I used lots of bits & bobs I keep from larger projects like cards. I used free papers; scrapbooking papers, nestabilities, punched & die-cut flowers from a recycled gift card for the 1st ATC. The flowers turned out really sturdy - as good as chipboard ones and I was able to attach a few bead accents in the middle. The blue one actually uses the "negative" (left over) of a punched flower under a bright blue background. I added a couple of buttons in the centre.

Hice estas ATCs hace un tiempo y finalmente los publico aqui. Como es de costumbre use los poquitos y pedazitos que guardo de proyectos de tarjetería mas grandes. Usé papeles que vinieron gratis, papeles para scrapbooking, los cortadores de paneles ondeados nestabilities, flores cortadas con un perforador de presión y de rodillo que fueron recicladas de una tarjeta de obsequio en la 1era ATC. Las flores salieron bien robustas - tan buenas como las de chipboard y pude sujetar unas cuentas para acentuar los centros. La azul en verdad usa el "negativo" (lo que quedo)de una flor perforada que esta debajo de un fondo azul brillante. Yo le puse un par de botones en el centro.

The different hues of pink used in this necklace made it look really cheerful & vibrant. The base was crocheted with 0.4mm pink wire and has a selection of beads including cats eye, glass and faceted beads in different sizes and shapes. The 2 strands are weaved together with seed beads. I finished it off with a Tibetan pretty toggle clasp.

A selection of bracelets made with faux pearl, red chips and seed beads. The first one is not very intricate as it has elastic to fit snugly around the wrist. Some pearls were embellished with gold-plated caps. The 2nd and 3rd one were crocheted with fine wire and embellished with a few rows of seed beads.

Una selección de pulseras hechas con perlas falsas, chaquiras rojas y mostacillas. La primera no es muy complicada porque tiene elastico y encaja entalladamente en la muñeca. Algunas perlas estan adornadas con tapas doradas estilo filigree. La 2da y 3era estan hechas a crochet con alambre fino y adornadas con unas cuantas filas de mostacillas.

RAW(Right Angle Weave) may seem very complex sometimes especially when it has been embellished. This bracelet hast a RAW base that I also embellished with a few more seed beads. I also use faux pearls, nylon thread, extension chain and a lobster catch. Most of the time I add a little extension chain to the jewellery pieces I sell as this makes them adjustable and they'd fit any wrist or neck.

One of my favourite necklaces -This necklace was also featured in the Designer's gallery from the magazine Creative Beads & Jewellery issue 7.
I used a mixture of seed and acrylic beads to make the necklace light as lots of glass beads would have made it really heavy. It still looks chunky but weightless. I crocheted most of this necklace using 0.4mm blue wire and added some wire wrapped eyepins to finish it off. I also handmade the clasp and jump rings.

Uno de mis collares favoritos - Este collar tambien salio publicado en la galeria de diseñadoras de la revista inglesa Creative Beads & Jewellery edición 7.
Use una mezcla de cuentas acrílicas y mostacillas para hacer este collar liviano ya que usando bastantes cuentas de vidrio lo hubiera hecho muy pesado. Se ve grueso pero no pesa mucho. Hice a crochet la mayor parte de este collar usando alambre azul de 0.4mm y le puse unas agujas con detalles de alambre amarrado para terminarlo. Tambien hice a mano el broche y las anillas.

A couple of bracelets using my favourite technique - Macramé. I love the look of if when done with wire. Looks can be deceiving as it's not as complex as it may seem and I only used one knot called Square knot (AKA Flat Knot) and a few variations. I also used a selection of glass beads, gold plated wire and gold plated findings. The 2 bracelets have an extension chain so they can be adjusted to any wrist.

A card I've made lately. The main embellishment of this card (embroidered flower) actually came from a fancy top that I recycled as thought the embroidered flowers of the fabric would make a great card feature. I only added a few seed beads on the flower and leave to accent the shape & give it extra-sparkle.
I also used free papers, mirror card, brown paper, vellum, peel-offs and brads.

This necklace features a mixture of techniques from beadwork to wirework, linking and bead embroidery. The pendant base is a fabric button I bead embroidered using a selection of seed beads, sequins, some pearls and a shell. I also used faux pearls, glass beads and gold plated wire. The strand on the left is all about wirework and the one on the right is made of a stitch called spiral rope -beadwork

En este collar podran apreciar una variedad de técnicas que van desde el trabajo con moztacillas hasta el trabajo con alambre, conexiones y bordado con moztacillas. La base del colgante es un boton de tela al cual bordé con una variedad de moztacillas, lentejuelas, algunas perlitas y un caracolito. Tambien use perlas falsas, cuentas de vidrio y alambre dorado. La tira de la izquierda esta hecha toda de trabajo en alambre y la de la derecha esta hecha con la puntada espiral - trabajo con moztacillas.

Spring will on its way again and this beaded flower reminds me of it and also warm Summer time in the UK. I used assorted seed beads, a metal circle and brick stitch to create the flower. The centre was made of a fabric button which I bead embroidered with larger beads.
